I'm the baby, you gotta love me

My lovely siblings have been taking great care of me since I haven't really been able to walk the last few days. Well, I can walk but it's super painful and if I walk a lot I start to leave a blood trail. It's just not a good idea.

For the most part the food has been edible. There was an incident with easy mac and cheese that didn't go over so well. It had sat in the microwave for too long and lost all the water. I was mostly passed out on the couch when my brother mixed it up. He asked if it needed water and I said no. I'd forgotten that water evaporates. Everything ended okay because my mother made me Gold Fish mac and cheese. It was cute and delicious.

Fishies (Photo)

Thankfully my older sister made me a salad so I have eaten something healthy in the last few days. Pretty sure it's the only healthy thing I've eaten.

I did get some interesting, but yummy french toast for  breakfast. My brother made it. I was not entirely sure it was going to end well. I kept hearing questionable noises coming from the kitchen. The most disturbing was when he asked if it was supposed to look like that. Since I was lounging (in a rather foul temper) on the couch and couldn't actually see the kitchen I had no way of answering. It's been really odd to have him cook for me since if it's just the two of us at home I do the cooking.

It looked a lot like this, but flatter (Photo)

The best thing was when I asked my brother to get me a cup of coffee. I have a French press. He took the lid off and freaked out when he saw the coffee grounds. He didn't realize the plunger thing needed to be pressed down. In his defense he avoids all coffee and necessary equipment for making coffee. I got to talk him through the actions for a French press. Mostly that you have to push the plunger down slowly. He also took the lid of the creamer instead of popping the top up. Just unscrewed the whole thing.

This is real hard to use.

But mostly I've just eaten a lot a macaroni and cheese. It's my go to comfort food when I feel bad or am stressed.

Products that fail

I have been meaning to write about this for probably six months or more. So this is not going to be a completely accurate account of the things that happened. More of a vague I kind of remember that tasting freaking awful.

Chocolate filled Twinkies. I don't know why I thought it would taste okay. Normal Twinkies are the nastiest thing I've ever eaten. With the exception of that time in seventh grade when we put ranch dressing on Twinkies. *shudder*

The chocolate ones tasted disgusting. It was like someone took baking soda and oil and a little bit of coco powder and stuffed it inside something that should never be called food. I am unclear on what happened with the Hostess situation but if they never make Twinkies again I would not be sad. Although I have heard that a deep fried Twinkie is delectable.

Next up would be Pez. My loverly mother bought me an Iron Man Pez dispenser (it's super cool). But the candy was no good. Especially after it sat around in my room for a few months. That was just weird. It was alternately soggy and stale. Not that it was actually soggy, it just tasted like what I think soggy food would taste like.

The last item for now is those flavor milk straw things. I tried to look up the name but all I got were milk snakes. Fail google. *sigh* if my internet connection was better (as in didn't drop for several minutes ever hour) I would spend more time finding the name. As is it won't really hurt my sad little review. Those things suck. Granted I only tried the banana flavored one, but still. It tasted like bananas for the first sip and after that it was slightly sugary milk. Not impressed. The chocolate ones might work better but I am loath to try. It didn't even help to leave the straw in the cup of milk for a few minutes. Then it was just room temperature sugary milk. Soy milk worked better, but not by much and I think that was because the vanilla soy milk occasionally tastes kind of like bananas anyway.

And now for a funny. This has absolutely nothing to do with this post but a friend shared it with me and now I feel the need to share it with you.

"sit does not mean hump my leg"

My mother's dog is insane. It jumps all over the place and is crazy hyper. At least for her. Most of the time I don't go anywhere near it. The dog believes I am his personal slobber post. It's super gross. We had to tie him up because people were coming to see the house (Oh yeah, we're in the middle of selling our house. W00t.) I felt bad for him so after the people left I went out to unhook the chain, totally expecting to be mauled. Which I was, but when I told him to sit he actually sat. This has never happened before. I mean Never. And the most amazing thing is that he stayed sitting, granted I told him to stay. But dogs are not known for their long memories.

Now that I know he'll actually sit I am more inclined to take him for walks. Well, it'd still be more like him dragging me along. But, meh. He's super cute when he behaves.

A dear friend posted this on my fb page.
Not sure where she found it, but it's awesome.
This week has been kind of weird. I got a job offer on Sunday, which means I can quit my awfully job. Part of the reason I haven't been blogging (other than pure lazyness) is because all I want to do is bitch about the worst job I have ever had. I would have preferred to work for my father than continue working where I had a job. (I am not going to say where it was because it doesn't matter).

My new job is at a coffee house bistro thing. Not really sure if it would be classified as a restaurant

Candy!

I am a big fan of candy. I will pretty much eat anything that is made primarily out of sugar. Kind of sad, but true. One of few candies that I will never eat again is a guava gummy candy I picked up at the Asian market. It was seriously disgusting. In all fairness it really is the after taste that blows it. While chewing it doesn't really have any flavor and then *BAM* this sickly taste crawls up your throat. A co-worker referred to the taste as "what I imagine sweaty gym socks taste like".

The other candy like confection I will never eat again are Mallo-licious peaches. They foam. It's almost like having rabies, only it would be super sweet and have the added side effect of gagging.

Soooo Nasty!

But other than that nastiness I am down with pretty much anything. As is evident by the "candy" below.

Circus Peanuts. I really wish I could buy just one. I only ever want to eat one of them. But noooo, they come in this huge bag. I would have added these to the candy I will never eat again, but I will randomly get a craving for one. It only happens about once a year, and I try desperately to not cave, but they look so yummy. And then I eat one and don't want anymore.

Strawberry candies with a gooey center are a childhood favorite . My grandma used to keep them in her purse and give them to me when I did chores and stuff. I still don't know if they have a brand name or are just known as "those strawberry candies".

Bottle Caps are an all time favorite. Being completely honest, I only like the root beer ones. The cola ones are okay, mostly I think they are root beer and then am mildly distraught when I realize they are not. Sad day. Now if only I could buy just the root beer ones I would be set for life.

Gobstopper! It's been years since I've had these. They are so much fun, and yummy. I mostly got these on Pathfinder (it's like Girl Scouts but for Adventists) trips. An added plus is that they work really well for pegging people. Not that I ever did that...

Atomic Fireballs (not bombs). This is pretty much the only spicy candy I like. I am not a fan of super hot stuff, but my family is, which is how I almost burned my nose off when I was 2 (story at bottom). When I was about 12-13 years old, me and my best friend used to have contests to see how long we could keep the candy in our mouths. I am fairly certain she always won. Like I said, I am not a fan of spicy stuff.

Butterscotch candies are super yummy. This is what grandma would give me if she was out of the strawberry ones. These are pretty much classic candy.

Those peppermint things that melt in your mouth. Not sure what the actual name is, but they are fantastic. I think I ate like half a container once. It made me super hyper (shocking, I know).

Chocolate covered espresso beans. Who could not love these wonderful creations? It's my two favorite things, coffee and chocolate. I don't believe that anything else needs to be said.

Okay, earlier I made a reference to almost burning off my nose when I was two. My older sisters stuck a straw in a container of chili powder and told me to smell it. Well, me being two and all, I snorted it. It was a Saturday afternoon and I woke my parents up with my screams. They were not amused.

What's your coffee?

Even though I have lived in Casper for several years (well my parents lived here, I was in Lincoln going to school) and have visited for almost ever holiday my entire life I don't know much about the community. I don't go out and walk around down town. I don't even know what local coffee houses are here.

But that has recently changed. A few weeks ago I went with a friend to a small cafe called The Art of Coffee and it is fantastic. The chai is super yummy. As you can see.

Chai!

The Art of Coffee does more than just coffee though, they have an entire menu just for their drink options. It's crazy. They do lunches and I think they do breakfast too. I have never gone early enough to see if they do. On Tuesdays they have an open mic night. I don't know if it's worth going to, since I haven't had a chance to participate yet. But I am planning on it. They also sell hats, bags and a bunch of other stuff that is made by local artist. It's really cool.

It's soo good. Hands down the best chai ever.

There are a few more coffee houses around town that I want to check out. I will make sure to take pictures so I can share the awesomeness with you.

Do you want my muffin top?

Once again I found myself in a very awkward situation while writing a letter at  Starbucks. The previous awkwardness can be found here.

It was a Sunday evening and the place was packed. I mean there were like four chairs available in the entire cafe, and three of those were at the bar. Which I feel is really weird. It makes since for a bar to have a bar, but a cafe having a bar is a little weird, at least I think it is.

Anyway. I choose to sit at the bar because it is the only place where I can sit without being slammed between two other people. A few minutes later a guy comes in and sits down, leaving one seat between us. This is normal, expected behavior for people. You don't sit next to strangers unless you absolutely have to, most of the time I choice to take my food to-go if there isn't breathing space. Some people do not understand the term "shower regularly" Or "ever" for that matter. Eww.

Um... where was I?

Oh yes. The awkward Starbucks encounter. Well the girls working, behind the bar (obviously) knew the guy and started talking with him. I, for the life of me, cannot help but join conversations so I ended up talking with them. We where discussing one of the girl's paintings, it was really good and thought it would be nice to give her some encouraging words. Artists always love getting compliments. Even if they say they hate it, secretly they love it.

Well the guy is eating a muffin. He sets it down and turns towards me. Then he says, "Do you want my muffin top, it's the best part?"

What the hell am I supposed to say to that? Seriously?

Sadly enough I ended up taking it because I was really hungry and on my way to the firing range and I didn't want to end up accidentally shooting someone because I was hungry.... worst excuse ever. That and it looked delicious. Kind of like this, but better.

Mid-night grocery shopping

The last few weeks I have ended up going grocery shopping after midnight. Mostly to get creamer when I have run out and forgotten to get it earlier. But I always end up getting more stuff than I go in for. It's the grocery store phenomenon.

So last night I was meandering through the produce section deciding if I would really eat those apples or if they would just rot in my fridge when I saw them. Cuties! Only the best fruit ever.

I grabbed a bag and went to checkout. Well it turned out that my cashier had no idea what she was doing. The bar code had been "cut" off and only the bottom portion was visible. Instead of looking for the other bar code that was on the opposite side of the bag she tried typing it in manually. But even in that she failed. She should have just punched in the numbers, which were perfectly legible, and called it good. Alas, she tried putting them in as produce which automatically weighs the fruit.

The bag ended up "costing" ten bucks. I was not happy. Two other cashiers came over and tried to figure out what was wrong. Even with three of them there they couldn't get it to work. Eventually a cashier service manager found his way over to us.

After telling him what had happened he told the cashier to just give me the oranges. Best shopping adventure ever.

As an added bonus I found the coolest mug on Amazon today. I don't think I need to explain it. Everything should be understood with this picture:

Does it need any more explanation?

I think not.

Same old same old

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, Shame on you. Fool me thrice, I am gonna kick your ass.

But seriously. I am not that smart. If I was intelligent I would stop making the same mistakes over and over and over again. Like staying up late at night to read even when I know I have to get up for work the next day. Or forgetting to set an alarm clock so that I remember to eat. Or buying food so that on the off chance I remember to eat I actually have food in my room... hmmm... food sounds really good right now. I want a Popsicle. I think that every office should have a freezer full of them. So yes, I cannot seem to remember and/or learn anything from the mistakes I keep making. Some days it seems like I am on a hamster wheel and I just keep running and not getting any where. So I have to ask myself the question, get off and sit like a lazy ass or stay on and go no where?

A very difficult question to answer. Will I sit and not do anything because I am smarter then the hamster wheel, or will I continue working hard for what seems like it has no end.

I think I am just going to be lazy and sit. And eat candy.
