I tried to decapitate my toe

Yesterday afternoon we were getting ready for a picnic when I cut open the bottom of my toe/foot area. It was highly unpleasant. And kind of embarrassing. My mom asked me to grab something from the pantry (our pantry is like 10 feet tall). It was barely out of my reach. Instead of taking the minute or so of time to move stuff around and set up the step ladder I decided to be time efficient and just jump up and grab it.

In retrospect it does seem like a dumb decision. However, I have lived in this house for over a year and jumped up to grab items on numerous occasions. At the time it seemed a reasonable action to take.

I landed on something and it hurt. It felt like a paper cut, a sharp stabbing pain. I looked down, this was possibly another mistake. Blood had gushed out of my foot all over the floor. There was a small puddle of blood on the pantry floor that was getting bigger while I put pressure on my foot. I turned my foot over and could see into my toe. A flap of skin had popped open, it looked like someone had tried to peel all the skin off. I freaked out.

My family members all rushed to the kitchen to see what they could do to help. After looking at the wound they decided it needed stitches. They bandaged up the toe in an attempt to stop the bleeding and took my to InstaCare.

Unfortunately the place was located in an intersection that is under construction. Traffic was at a standstill and we took the side roads, which ended up being blocked off and we did a circle around the building before getting to the lot. My father was driving and was not happy with the traffic. I was sitting in the middle of the back seat with my foot propped up on the passenger side seat. I did what most people do. I texted my best friends a picture of my bandaged foot. Responding to their messages kept me from freaking out about getting stitches. I have never had stitches before.

The clinic was basically empty. I am assuming it's because of the horrible traffic. I got in to see a doctor in what is probably record time. I am almost positive you can't really read my handwriting on the information form. I probably should have had my father fill it out, but it's a little late for that.

The nurse was very nice. I remember she had on these light blue cowboy boots and black scrubs. She also had a really nice voice when she said my heart rate was elevated. Had I not been in so much pain it would have been funny in a I wan to punch you sort of way.

Had that nurse been the doctor things would have gone better. He came in and it all went down hill from there. He was an older, heavy man with a slow, wanna be Texas drawl. (I say want to be because it's Wyoming and most people from Wyoming who try and effect a Texas drawl don't do it right.) After looking at my foot he declared it a superficial lesion slapped two bandages on it and sent me home.

It was slightly more involved than that but the whole visit couldn't have taken more than fifteen minutes. I have a gouge out of the bottom of my toe and slice out of the side. The side cut almost looks like my skin just burst open. It's disturbing to look at. What's slightly more disturbing is that the bottom gouge connects to the side slice so that half of my toe skin can flap up.

I spent most of the examination gritting my teeth and trying not to bitch every time his pudgy fingers poked the open wound. For some reason the doctor did not realize, or possibly care, that it was really only one cut. He kept saying it didn't need stitches. Now it is possible there was nothing to keep the stitches in and they would only cause more problems but that isn't what he said. The doctor also told me I would be able to walk on it with out any problems. He only told me that after I asked. He also said I could take ibuprofen or Tylenol but didn't say how often or how much. Which I found highly irritating because I try to never take pain medicine if I could to something else to alleviate the pain, like drinking more water or eating something different.

By the time I got home I had already bled through the bandages the doctor had put on. I was so tempted to call them back and bitch at him. He had specified, the only thing he'd actually told me to do, that I needed to change the bandages once a day for the next ten days or so. When I'd asked if I would need to do more than that he'd said in a very snooty voice, "Once a day will be fine."

Subtext "I am the doctor, this is not a real problem."

You know when you can just hear what someone is saying?
That's what happened then. The doctor had decided I was a young woman who came in because of a little cut. Problem solved.

Even the nurse asked if he should look at it from another angle. If you are a doctor what would it hurt to have another look at something? It would have taken less then a minute and might have possibly made my life a little easier. It's not like he had another patient to look at.

Instead of him doing his job my mother has bandaged up my toe and I've been on bed rest. Which is very boring. Very boring. And quite possibly the only reason I wrote this post. Because every time I get up and walk around blood starts leaking all over the place. It's messy and disgusting.

Mishi 0, weird rashy thing 1

Mkay. So a couple of days ago a reddish looking sort of rash appeared on the back of my hands. It's very odd, it doesn't really hurt or itch. At least not noticeably more than the rest of my skin. But it really freaks me out. It wasn't raised, but now it is. To combat this situation I have decided to make pepper jack grilled cheese. Just kidding, well I am making that but not because of the weird rashy thing.

It's turned into a competition of sorts. I put a different antibiotic cream on each hand, to see which one would clear it up. After about four hours the clear winner was the Melaleuca stuff, I am not really sure what it is. The package says for ... I can't remember but rashes and cuts were on the list. The other stuff I used was Neosporin. It let me down. Granted I have no idea what Neosporin is actually supposed to be used for, I know it's used on cuts but that's about it.
NeosporinNoooooooooo!
Either way I am hoping the stupid thing clears up before I have to go back to work. We shall see.

To add horribleness to hurt (although it doesn't) I burnt my grilled cheese. Cooking fail. Not that I should be surprised by that. Trying to blog and cook at the same time is not a good idea. Just saying.

Things that truly horrify me

This last weekend I got a small glimpse into the world of 1980s films. It was kind of awesome. Normally I go over to my cousins and we watch a TV show. So far we've watched Leverage and Rizzoli & Isles, both great stories with good plot lines and the unfortunate timing to not have the newest seasons out yet. Instead of starting another show that only has one season out yet we watched "16 Candles" and "Better Off Dead". Two fantastic movies that have landed in my favorite movies list.

I know this seems a rather random topic to go with the post title, but am getting to the horribleness. If you have not seen "16 Candles" I would suggest not reading this next paragraph. Ever. Actually, if you liked the movie you might not want to read it either.

The movie was cute, funny and had me totally caught up in the story. That is until I noticed something I could not unnotice. Jake Ryan, the main love interest, looks just like Edward. He has a similar hair style and the mannerisms are down right creepy, almost like what Edward would have been like if he wasn't an angsty, sparkly thing. The actor even had the same troubled/uncomfortable/constipated look... it was weird. Throughout the entire movie I was trying not to gag, I had an insane urge to stab a pencil in my eye. I really hate the Twilight saga. Like really, really dislike. If I could I would probably burn all the books. I know I should have said that Edward looked like Jake since that movie came out first (by about two decades), but since I saw Twilight first I cannot. Which majorly sucks.

Although, maybe I am the only one who sees it.
He has "Issues"

Now on to other things that really horrify me.

Comic sans. I feel like nothing more needs to be said for this. Nothing.

That moment when I take a sip of coffee and there is nothing in the mug. Then when I go to pour more in I find out there is nothing left in the carafe. It generally takes a few seconds for the horror to truly dawn on me, I drank all the damn coffee. Again. And Again I totally forgot the actual drinking part. Which sucks.

And the flip side of that problem. When I get so caught up in something I totally forget about my coffee until it colds, so I microwave it. And then forget about it again. There are only so many times you can reheat coffee without burning the crap out of it. Very few things taste nastier than burnt coffee. Or tepid coffee for that matter.

Um... I know there are other things that horrify me, but I can't think of anymore.

Pennies and dimes for a kiss

I heard a new song on the radio this weekend, it was repetitively annoying. One of those songs that get stuck in my head and never leave. Seriously, I will think the song is gone and then BAM a few weeks later I am humming. Any of my previous roommates can attest to this, much to their annoyance.

Anyway. I kind of like the song, but I love the music video. It is one of the funniest music videos I have ever seen. Ever. With the possible exception being the literal music video from the 80's.

Hmm... so I couldn't find the original version, but this is pretty awesome too. And no, the U.S. version does not work anymore, they lie.

Yes. It's pretty epic isn't it? Hehehe, I about fell over laughing the first few times I watched it.

I died a whole lot inside

While mindlessly repining things on Pinterest.com I found a picture of a Hello Kitty bar. It looked super cool, so I decided to go to the site the picture was found on. And that is how I stumbled across the Hello Kitty Hell blog. From the little I managed to decipher, it appears that the blogger is married to a Hello Kitty fan and cannot stand it. He loathes Hello Kitty to the seven circles of hell.

His site is rather amusing, and he is a good writer. The few things I've read were quite funny.

Then something horrible happened. I found the Hello Kitty Tattoos.

I kind of want to cry again. I would strongly suggest not following that link. Ever. I only shared it because it was so traumatizing I couldn't keep it to myself. So scary.

And this again just reiterates the fact that I am a horrible fan. I highly doubt I would ever get a Hello Kitty tattoo. It just seems like that would be a bad idea. A very, very, very bad idea.

After the horrors on that website I was inspired to go to the actual Hello Kitty website. It's not much better. Did you know that they have Hello Kitty designer collections? Yeah.

Some of the stuff is really cute though.

I need a new pair of slippers

Please do not wear when fighting.

It's a geek love Hello Kitty.

All in all though, I don't think I am ever going to visit that other site again. I like Hello Kitty (a lot) and I do not want to see all the traumatizing things that are out there. Poor Hello Kitty has been badly used by her fans. I no longer believe I am a fan, just an appreciative acquaintance.
