Death Through Layout Programs

I am going to find the person who created Dork Express (I changed the name so I don't have to deal with copy right crap) and put them through the same misery I experience every time I have I use it.

The worst program on the face of the planet! It is so bloody confusing... and it is a pain in the ass to use. I hate it soooo much. It also doesn't help that today was the worst day in the history of my full time working career(which is a grand totally of like five weeks, but shh). The day started off with so much promise too. I had actually woken up earlier to get to work on time, not like my boss actually expects me on time or anything. The first real issue was me spilling my coffee... This fact still really upsets me "Coffee No!" I then realized I was locked out of my office (cuz of really stupid meetings), when I went to the secondary office the drawer with the extra key was locked... Yes the drawer that is supposed to keep me from getting locked out was locked. SO angry.

Once I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to pick the lock to get to the key I needed I went around campus to several different offices looking for someone who had a key, a lovely desk worker finally pointed out that I should call plant services. There were two people down there with keys, but they weren't in the office either... Extreme frustration.

I opted for texting a co-worker who normally comes in sometime between 9:30 to 10:30. He texted me saying when he would be in, since it was going to be a while I decided to chill in the cafe after heating up my coffee, at least what was left of my coffee.

When someone had finally come to open the door I left the cafe through a back door. Worst idea of the day. I got locked in a room. Yes I said locked. As in I was stuck, the crash bar wasn't opening the door and the door I had left through was locked. To make this perfectly clear I tried opening the door. I pushed my entire weight against the door and it would not budge. I called a friend to have her let me out so I could go to work. The first thing she did was walk in and open the door. I was so pissed. I had tried opening that door for like two minutes and it did not budge.

In the end I finally got to work, about an hour later than I was planning on showing up, but whatever.

And that all leads to way I was so angry when I was stuck working with my least favorite program on the face of the planet. It was just a really bad day. Although since I want to end this with a happy note, I did get free food, and it tasted suburb.

Dysfunctional Laminate Tile Stuff

I had thought moving into the wrong room was going to okay, and I guess it is, in one of those "Oh look someone pulled the pin on this grenade - F***!" kinda ways.

I am not sure what was worse, the smell of the floor. The smell was misleading because the previous occupant had febreezed the room to cover the smell of spilled feta cheese... it was really bad the first night.

But the floor... It is just so bad. As soon as I find a camera I will post a picture. Fake wood laminate. Need I say more? It didn't stop there, the loverly person who decided to put the laminate floor down realized that they didn't have enough to cover the entire floor. They left a 6X4 foot rectangle in the middle of the floor with the original tile. I have a tri-toned floor. The tile under the sink isn't the same as the tile in the middle of the floor. I guess I should just be glad that I have a unique floor.

For Real?

I have never much respected figures of authority, I inherited it from my parents, but I have experienced a new low on my respecto-meter.

I was minding my own business(as per usual) when one of my lovely deans spotted me and decided to make my life a lot more complicated (I swear they plot out the demise of all the students living in the dorm). The following is a replication of the discussion that ensued.

"Oh there you are!" Dean.

"Um... Hi?" Me

"I need to talk to you about this summer." Dean

"Uh, okay." Me

"What are you doing this summer?" Dean

"I am working all summer." Me

"Oh you're taking summer classes that's nice." Dean

"...Um... No I am working all summer on campus." Me, slightly confused.

"Oh! You're working." Dean

"Yeah, all summer." Me

"How long are you working for?" Dean.

"All summer..." Me, speaking very slowly.

"Oh, well then, you need to move rooms for the summer." Dean

"Okay, well then I want to move into the room I will be in next fall." Me

"Okay, what room is that." Dean.

Me thinking "How should I know, I am in the middle of working, you're the dean with the freaking list."

"Um... It's on third somewhere." Me

"Okay, 365." Dean

"Sure?" Me

"Okay well there is a girl in that room now attending first session of summer school." Dean

"Okay?" Me

"Okay, your in 465." Dean

"She was on third." Nice random lady who was subjected to this conversation.

"Oh, you're right." Dean

"So I'm all good now." Me

"You need to be in that room before June 1." Dean

"Alright, I can do that." Me

"Make sure to move after your first class is over." Dean

"???" I don't even know what to say.

I didn't realize until a few days later that the dean had stuck me in the wrong room... I just decided to deal with the fact that the dean will never be able to tell the difference between me and any of my previous roommates.

Right and wrong, honor and justice, life and death, all things that people live by every day, all ideas that encompass the judgment of the value of a soul. How is it that people will sacrifice justice, honor, and life all in the name of love, and the world will applaud their efforts?

How has something as intangible as emotions are become thee moral high ground? It is wrong to kill someone out of cold blood, it is wrong to kill someone out desire for death, it is wrong to kill someone for fun, but it’s ok to kill someone out of love? To kill a person who is someone’s child, parent, sibling, lover all in the name of love. How can that be acceptable? What has become of this world if emotions are the rules?

Emotions have never been, are not, and will never be stable; therefore emotions cannot be the bar by which actions are judged. It might seem noble and gallant for a person to fight and kill for love, fairy tales certainly teach that, but in the end regardless of the reasons they have still stolen something of value. There is not a single person who is not loved, valued, and cherished by someone else, it might take a while to find that person, but they are out there.

If someone is going to kill another human being, for death is a natural part of life and cannot be denied it’s due, I wish that person would take responsibility for death and not try to explain it away as a noble deed done in love. Every person will have to face the dark side of life, will have to face their worst fears and deadliest desires, what defines a person is how they walk away from that encounter. If someone is broken by what they see then they were weak. If someone walks away hurt but with a desire to make the world a better place then they are strong. If someone walks away seemingly unscathed from the black depths of the human soul, then they are not human, they are a devil in disguise. And that is what they are, devils. Any person who uses love as the reason behind their actions, actions that are hurting others, is a devil. The excuse “I did it for you” is something only selfish people use. If you really loved that other person you would be willing to concede to their desires, not force yours on them. After all, love is only an illusion.
